But a good time was had by all

A 58-year-old man became heavily intoxicated during four visits to a topless bar called TD's Showclub North in Albuquerque, N.M., and claims that he was taken advantage of. 

Why? Because his credit card tab for his good times totaled nearly $27,000, enough for about 5,300 expensive drinks or more than 2,600 table dances, in which naked ladies dance up close and personal with those who pay for the privilege.

The state attorney general is looking into the matter, but a 
spokesman for the bar said the guy bought several rounds for the entire house, and tipped just about everyone who worked there like it was going out of style.

Now, that's devotion

When Carlos Gabriel Garcia and five of his friends were arrested for killing the police chief of Tijuana, Mexico, in a hail of gunfire, it soon became clear that Carlos had at least one friend in high places. 

The six men were being transferred to prison in a convoy of police 
cruisers, when another cop car joined the procession driven by Miriam Marmolejo Ortega, a top police official. She is also his girlfriend and doesn't care who knows it.

As she pulled alongside the suspects she screamed, ``I love you! I 
love you! Count on me for everything!''

She has since been fired.

The right man for the job

Five years ago, the government of Paraguay appointed Daniel Fretes Ventre to battle the nation's rampant corruption problem.

He is now being charged with corruption. He says he is innocent.

It seemed so realistic

Rexford Hance, 73, was watching TV in his Largo, Fla., living room when an out-of-control car smashed into his 
house, hit the recliner in which he was sitting and continued on 
through the sliding glass doors and onto his patio.

He had been watching the NASCAR auto race at the time.

OK, we're almost there

Officer Margo Grady was transporting a crime victim a few miles from a hospital to a Philadelphia police substation when her sense of direction failed her. She wound up in New Jersey, 70 miles away.

As her fellow Pennsylvania officers searched for her in vain, she finally got directions from a New Jersey state trooper near Newark Airport, and arrived at her destination four hours later.

What do you think you're doing, bub?

A stranger showed up at the wake of a woman in Cleveland, leaned over the coffin and stole a brooch pinned to her body.

Shocked mourners chased him outside and down the street. The cops caught him a short time later.
