A VERY POPULAR GIRL: Brandon Parks, 19, went on "The Jerry Springer Show" to accuse his pregnant 15-year-old girlfriend of having sex with other men. She, in turn, countered by announcing that he had done the same thing with her older sister. But Brandon was either unaware or didn't care that it is unlawful to have carnal knowledge of anyone under the age of 17 in his home state of Illinois. So he was somewhat surprised when police stormed into his trailer park home and arrested him.
Two other men, who didn't appear on the show, also face the same charges.

FAMILY TIES: Though polygamy is banned in Thailand, Supat Teeraphapsakulwong says he is happily married to seven women by whom he has 22 children, and all of them have worked in his meatball factory, just west of Bangkok. The family also lives in the three-story factory, and each wife has  her own bedroom. He stays with each of them in turn. "My wives take ... turns to spend the night with me," he said.
"If I go away, I always remember who's next in line."

YOU CAN GO; NO, REALLY, LEAVE: Though Michael Pardue's three 1972 murder convictions were overturned six years ago, he remained in an Alabama prison because  he escaped three times - in 1977, 1978 and 1987 - and got a life sentence for being a habitual escaper. The authorities finally saw the irony of keeping a man in jail just for trying to get out even though they agree he shouldn't have been  there in the first place.
He has been released.

HOW MUCH THIS TIME!? Robert Geiyer of Findlay, Ohio, says two men he met through "a friend of a friend" told him they knew where a buried treasure could be found, but they needed money to actually acquire it. They agreed to split the proceeds with him. So, over the next three years, he gave them $107,798 for various  purposes including the purchase of land where the treasure was buried, a reassure  map, bail for a man in jail who knew where the treasure was, etc., etc.
In the end, no treasure was located. Geiyer has filed a complaint.

JUST MAKING A POINT: A basketball referee, officiating at a game between 8-year-olds at an elementary school gym in Fayetteville, Ga., got fed up with the verbal abuse coming from the coaches on the sidelines. So, police say, the ref, a 46-year-old retiree, pulled out a pocketknife and attacked. One coach required 17 stitches.
The ref was arrested.
