THERE, ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? When a soft drink
machine took his dollar bill but failed to deliver the merchandise, a
man in Pryor, Okla., became so angry that he decided to take the whole
contraption with him. He was loading the machine onto his pickup truck
when the police pulled up and made him put it back.
After he did, the machine spit out the dollar.
I'D LIKE TO MAKE A WITHDRAWAL: A man held up Garden Plain State Bank
in Wichita, Kan., and decided that the best place to keep the loot was
in another bank, so he deposited it in the Sunflower Bank, police say.
The robbed bank now wants to get its money back, but the other bank
can't return it because of a federal regulation that requires savings
institutions to have money in accounts available for next-day
withdrawals.
In other words, the robber would technically be able to get the stolen
money.
BUT IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW: Hong Thy Khoeun and Chan Yean, two
Cambodian police officers on trial for terrorism, admit they are members
of the Cambodian Freedom Fighters, but they say they joined to earn the
relatively high salary of $200 per month.
They told a court they were surprised to learn that the whole purpose of
the group was to overthrow the government.
HELLO, BABY, ROMEO CALLING: Cell phone use is so widespread in
Australia that some mimic birds in rural areas, who usually imitate the
sounds of nature, have adopted the electronic beeping sounds as part of
their mating songs.
Male birds are now likely to seek the attention of females by making the
sound of a ringing mobile phone.
OK, PAL, WHERE'S THE FIRE? After being clocked on radar and
ticketed, Lim Ang Hing told a traffic court in Malaysia that he is
innocent of the charge that he was going 712 mph in a 56 mph zone, as
most automobiles do not travel at the speed of sound.
Authorities agreed and blamed the error on a technical glitch.
