April 11, 2004 BOY, WERE THEY EMBARRASSED: A man called police in Pinellas
Park, Fla., and reported that he could see a burglar with a knife in
Apartment A of the adjacent apartment building. But the cops mistakenly
went to the caller's building and into Apartment A, which was,
unfortunately, the caller's apartment. GET A LOAD OF THOSE NEWS CREDENTIALS: An Ohio TV anchorwoman who resigned after she was videotaped participating in a wet T-shirt contest in Key West, Fla., will still be on the air in a sense. A judge ruled that Internet sites can continue to show the tapes of her vacation performance, which, by the way, netted her $250 in a tie for first place. I'LL SHOW HER! After a falling out with a girl, a high school boy from upstate New York tried to get back at her by logging on to a computer at the school using her name and then sending an email to the White House threatening to kill the president. His ploy fooled no one. He was arrested. IS THERE A PROBLEM, OFFICER? A 60-year-old University of
Connecticut basketball fan wearing a mask of a Husky dog - the team's
mascot - stopped at the bank on his way to a game. Employees told him to
remove the mask, and, when he didn't respond, set off the alarm because
they thought he was there to rob the place. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WAY OUT HERE? The long arm of the law was longer than usual in the case of an Arkansas lawyer who stole $3 million from investors. Federal agents tracked him all the way to Madagascar, where they took him into custody a month after he fled.
