May 23, 2004 A GIRL'S GOT TO MAKE ENDS MEET: A low-level staff assistant to
a Republican senator used an office computer to detail her sexual
exploits and posted them on the Internet for all to see. She revealed
that she had given up her amateur standing, sexwise: "Most of my
living expenses are thankfully subsidized by a few generous older
gentlemen. I'm sure I am not the only one who makes money on the side
this way: How can anybody live on $25K/year?'' JUST NEED TO GET A FEW BUGS OUT: The Air Force has installed a $5.5 million two-way radio system at a base in Florida. It works OK, but it also keeps garage door openers from working. A new frequency is being investigated. THE STANDARDS COULD BE A LITTLE HIGHER: At a Mount Vernon, Wash., middle school dance, two girls attacked another girl and beat her unconscious. The dance was for students who attained high academic and behavioral standards. A SMALL PRICE TO PAY: A Malibu, Calif., man took credit card information from about 900,000 people and used it to sign them up for pornographic Web sites, charging each of them $19.95 a month. He made about $37.5 million. But he has to go to jail for 11 years. I'LL BE THROUGH IN A MINUTE: A homeowner in Whitefish Bay, Wis., got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. He discovered a burglar using the toilet. A scuffle ensued followed by an arrest.
